This month I thought I’d share with you a true story – how I saved a couple of good clients of mine 40% on their fuel bills where NO MONEY needed to be spent to achieve these savings! Could this be you too?
Seldom do we find a customer who Isnt using too much fuel in one way or another. And in this case you might not even have to spend money to make money! Heres a few tips I’m passing you after I spent time training a couple up – who now use almost 40% LESS fuel for the same amount of driving in their household!
1. TYRES. How to use 20% MORE fuel than you need to: You can easily not bother to check your tyre pressures. The environment and your wallet will suffer though. If you don’t know what to do and what tyre pressures to put in, Call us on 0800 FIX CAR – we can talk you through it while you’re at a service station. In my example the 15 psi average instead of 36 (desired psi varies between cars) used an incredible 20% more fuel!
2. BRRRRRRR! A cold engine needs time to warm & settle. Until the temperature guage starts warming up, drive the car very gently. By doing this you can cut out the necessity to sit there idling (achieving zero Kms per litre) and still look after it. Your car uses a lot of extra fuel until it starts warming up. Also devices (with names like oxygen sensors) begin to start measuring things better & fine tuning your engine after the first few minutes of driving. If you are always running your car for short trips, it can gunk up & cause loss of fuel economy – so once in a while, try to use your car to do a necessary longer trip, and once its warm, give it a quick full throttle blast to high rpm to open everything up & burn off sticky carbon deposits that can reduce your fuel economy. If you live in a house where one car does the longer driving, try swapping cars with that driver for a day here & there. My clients used to religiously warm their engines for 10 minutes each morning before driving! – what a waste! I’m estimating this accounts for an extra 10% of their now reduced fuel.
3. Brakes use fuel! – If you’re having to brake you’ve just wasted all the fuel you used to accelerate. If you can see corner, downhill, or red light coming up, don’t accelerate right up to it then brake hard, try to ease off and let the car slow down naturally to a safe cornering or downhill speed, or gentle braking speed at the lights. Estimate 10% savings.
So there you have it – 40% savings in that case without spending a cent!

Cleaner Air
Power generated by fossil fuels is the principal cause
of air pollution, global warming and climate change.
For every litre of petrol we use, 2.4 kg of carbon dioxide (the major contributor to Greenhouse Gas) is released from the exhaust. With diesel fuel, this figure is 2.7 kg/litre.
If we can reduce the fuel consumption by 12% (which the Fuelstar will do) then we reduce the emissions of Greenhouse Gas by 12%.
For the average car travelling between 20,000 and 30,000 km per annum, this will amount to a reduction in GHG by 0.5 to 1.0 tonne per annum, depending on the size of car. For the average truck travelling between 150,000 and 250,000 km/year this will amount to a reduction by 20 to 30 tonnes per year.
In addition to this absolute reduction in tailpipe emissions the Fuelstar, in providing a more complete combustion, will reduce the emission of certain other components. In particular, the emissions from diesel engines of black smoke, soot, particulate matter and nitrous oxides are substantially reduced. Generally, the more black smoke, the greater the extent of the improvement. In most cases, the Fuelstar will bring about a reduction in black smoke by 30 to 50%. In many cases, the installation of a Fuelstar will make the difference between meeting and not meeting annual emission checks.
Fuelstar should be installed to all engines to reduce absloute emissions but, in particular to passenger buses, passenger trains, passenger ferries and liners, charter boats, food carrying delivery vehicles, commercial fishing boats and engines operating in confined areas such as in-store forklift trucks and underground mining operations

By providing a more complete and more controlled combustion, engine efficiency is improved which normally results in increased power output and improved torque. Most dynamometer graphs reveal an increase in power output of 6 to 9% immediately after installation followed by a further improvement of 6 - 9% within 5,000 kms of running, for a total of 10% and more. This secondary improvement occurs as combustion chambers and engine operating surfaces are cleaned and with the coating of the internal operating surfaces with tin oxides.
